Matt is a total pro and had a beautiful proposal planned for girlfriend Dominique. He wanted to propose to her on December 16 after a romantic dinner at Nicollet Island Inn followed by, get this, a horse drawn carriage ride! 

Matt and I spent the week leading up to his proposal biting our nails, nervously watching the forecast. Things like”frostbite in 30 minutes!” and “horrendous driving conditions!” were being thrown around throughout the week.

We got the go ahead from the carriage company (The Hitching Company, they’re awesome!) at noon on Friday that they were still going to offer their rides. While anxious drivers were struggling with their commute home, Matt and Dominique were cozied up in the gorgeous Nicollet Island Inn for a delicious dinner. 

Afterwards, Matt led her outside where the horse drawn carriage was waiting for them. How romantic is that?! They rode along the snowy streets of Nicollet Island until the driver made an excuse to stop at our preplanned location. 

Matt led Dominique through the snowy street as I anxiously crouched behind a tree with my camera poised. I felt very exposed with the lack of brush and leaves but thankfully they only had eyes for each other and did not notice me.

The moment he got down on one knee was perfect, and I am so grateful Matt fought to have it happen that day instead of rescheduling. It wouldn’t have been the same without the enchanting snow! 

If you’re planning your own proposal or you think your guy is getting ready to do it, hire a professional photographer or hint at wanting one! I got engaged in July and I specifically told Tony I didn’t want a photographer because I wanted it to be an intimate moment between the only the two of us. Looking back, I wish I had photos of that moment! And a good photographer will be discreet and let you have your moment.
