I knew something special was happening immediately when I pulled up to the Lookout Bar in Maple Grove and had to park blocks away because the lot was full. There was a benefit there for Joe Brown who was diagnosed with prostate cancer in July.
The little neighborhood bar was packed to the brim, standing room only filled with the most incredible and supportive group of people. You know how amazing people attract equally amazing people around them? That’s how the Brown family is. Joyful, gracious, optimistic and inviting are a few words to describe them. Joe and Kim’s three kids Ashley, Dani and Andy made the rounds making sure they graciously greeted everyone. And by everyone, I mean the 400+ people who came to support their family.
Kim, Joe’s wife exuded love and joy to everyone she spoke to. Every time I looked over at her she was throwing her head back with laughter and hugging all the people who came to support her family.
Benefits can sometimes be sad sad affairs where people lament over their bad fortune. This couldn’t have been more different. The Lookout Bar realized that it was a different thing altogether as well. They said they never had that big of a turnout for any benefit they’ve done.
I can tell after just one night with them that the Browns are one of those families that people feel really blessed to know, and would do anything to love and support them. To the Brown’s- I’m proud to be included in this amazing community of yours, praying alongside you and hoping for the best.
A huge shoutout to the Edina Realty who put this benefit on. You all rocked it and did amazing work. Thank you!
