Colorado Adventures Part 2 – Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park was the highlight of our trip! It was completely surreal. We drove up Trail Ridge Road as far as we could go before it closed off for snow plowing. It’s the highest continuous highway in the US, and it goes over the mountain range in the park. We parked at Rainbow Curve and admired the breathtaking views that were so spectacular, we almost got dizzy from looking at it.

After taking our time to soak it all in, we hiked up Trail Ridge Road a bit and I just couldn’t believe what I was seeing was real. The snow-capped mountains anchored against the vibrant blue sky with a couple picturesque fluffy, white cloud gliding by looked too perfect to be real.

The road was quiet since cars couldn’t get up that high and there were only a couple fellow hikers. We heard a landslide off in the distance and a group of coyotes howling as well. We didn’t get to hike as much as we wanted because we got out of breath easily. We jumped from Minnesota flat to almost 11,000 feet in just one day so our bodies weren’t accustomed to the altitude yet. It’s ok, though. We’ll be back! I am determined to photograph an elopement or intimate wedding in those mountains. If that’s you, give me a call J

Now it’s time for me to step aside and let the photos do the talking. I really wish they could fully capture the beauty of the park, but it’s barley a glimpse.
