Jason and Shannon’s intimate wedding was a gorgeous and relaxed day where they committed their lives together surrounded by their closest family and friends after 7 years together. This wasn’t their original plan for their wedding, but the day was stunning from start to finish.
They live right down the street from Munsinger Gardens in St. Cloud which was a perfect place for a wedding. The day started with Jason and Shannon getting ready in the comfort of their own home in St. Cloud. It set the stage for a relaxed and fun day since they were in a familiar environment. I definitely recommend getting ready at home if it’s an option for you!
Jason and Shannon had the awesome idea to do their first look on these stairs that overlook the epic Munsinger Gardens in St. Cloud. From this vantage point, you could see all of the color and beauty. Until this wedding, I had no idea this place even existed! It’s seriously breathtaking, and I can’t wait to go back.
This gorgeous location was the perfect setting for Jason and Shannon’s sweet first look. I can’t get over Jason’s face here. He was so overcome with emotion when he saw his stunning bride! Afterwards, they took some time to themselves to let the moment sink in. This is so important for every couple to do on their wedding day. It goes so fast, but if you can take some time to pause and enjoy each other, it helps slow the day down.
Munsinger Gardens has the perfect spot for small weddings. The gardens get busy, but they have a special, small garden for weddings in its own area. It’s totally set apart by a beautiful arch that is full of greenery and the front and sides are secluded by tall hedges. I definitely recommend it for small weddings! It looks like they are off in a tropical paradise 🙂
The ceremony was full of personal touches. Shannon’s dad officiated it and her mom walked her down the aisle. Jason’s sister Jill had the honor of presenting Jason and Shannon with their rings. The highlight was the unique, personal vows they wrote to each other. It gave everyone a special glimpse into their 7 year relationship which I loved!
After the ceremony was over, Jason’s sister Jill wanted to perform her own version of the ceremony complete with an exchange of rings and even another first kiss. It was so sweet! Also, small weddings are awesome because you can fit everyone easily into one photo!
After the ceremony, we had some time to wander down by the Mississippi River that borders the gardens. With small weddings, the timeline is often much more fluid and flexible than with traditional weddings. Jason and Shannon were able to take their time and enjoy the day without having to stress about what was coming next and if they were on time.
Also, we may have seen a giant wolf spider on a rock at this point in the day but we all remained (relatively) calm about it 🙂 The cute duck family swimming past their portraits made up for it a little bit.
Laid back, backyard receptions are my favorite kind! We went back to Jason and Shannon’s house after the ceremony where the family was hanging out, relaxing and playing yard games. They had a couple tables set up with beautiful flowers and a delicious taco dinner.
They did a champagne toast, spontaneous first dance and cake cutting but all at their own pace. It was nice to have the reception be so relaxed, and they were able to spend time hanging out and catching up with all of the guests.
