When Kyle and Emily’s venue cancelled on them because of covid, they got together with their families and came up with a better plan than even the original one.
Kyle’s parents graciously offered to host the wedding in their spacious backyard. Both families joined together in the days leading up to the wedding and transformed the space for ordinary yard to spectacular wedding venue. Every detail and part of the yard had a purpose and was decorated gorgeously.
The ceremony was spaced out in the lawn, with two beautifully painted doors for Emily to walk through. To the right, there was a cozy, heated tent for the reception full of greenery and growler centerpieces from all of the breweries Emily and Kyle have gone to together. The garage that normally contained a car and tools was emptied and transformed into a glittering dance floor.
Emily and Kyle’s families have gotten to know each other well over the years and get along so well which always makes for a fun wedding. Everyone was so excited for Kyle and Emily getting married after 7 or so years together, and the energy at the wedding was electric and full to the brim with joy.
Kyle and Emily’s ceremony was so personal and sweet!
Kyle’s cousin Amanda officiated the ceremony and kicked it off with the story of how the two of them met- it was their first day moving into the dorms at college. Emily’s mom was there to help and was very impressed when she met Kyle, who was the boy next door in the dorms.
Stepping up as Emily’s wing woman, she told Kyle that there two cute girls moving in next door. Kyle showed up at Emily’s dorm that night with cookies and they became friends right away.
The ceremony was a bit cold, but true to the theme of the wedding, they had thought of everything and provided blankets to keep their guests warm. For their unity ceremony, they poured together apple cider and whiskey to make a delicious cocktail.
For their reception, they wanted to keep it laid back and fun.
In addition to the the typical dancing and speeches, they had multiple bonfire pits set up the yard, s’mores for everyone and yard games. They also converted their ceremony arch into a photo booth! It was genius. Add in some delicious food, homemade desserts, festive drinks and good company- it doesn’t get better than that! Congrats on your awesome day, Kyle & Emily! It was such a joy to celebrate with you two!
